Melancholy Ladies

Tonight on a Mixed Bag on 93.7 Edge FM in the Bega Valley, our theme was "Melancholy Ladies".  We started off with some Petula Clark and Dusty Springfield, a song from Duffy from The Boat that Rocked soundtrack, some Emmylou Harris, and of course, the queen of melancholy tunes, Linda Rondstadt.

Kris Kristofferson accidentally got thrown into the mix, when the wrong cd was played, but Janis Joplin's version of Me and Bobby McGee came to the rescue!!  No men allowed on tonight's "Melancholy Ladies" theme!

We heard from Nicolette Larson, Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac (Stevie Nicks); and a singer I haven't heard a lot of (but definitely fitted nicely into our theme tonight).  Her name is Lainie Kazan, and she seems like a mixture of Cleo Laine, Eartha Kitt and Shirley Bassey all rolled into one melancholy lady!!

We finished with a couple of songs from Adele.  Adele does a lovely cover of Bob Dylan's song, "Make You Feel My Love" - we played that song from her album 19, and finished the show with her big hit from her 21 album, "Someone Like You".

If you've had enough of the melancholy stuff, and you'd prefer something a bit more rock, tune into 93.7 Edge FM next Tuesday night between 6.00 pm and 8.00 pm and we'll explore the music of the Easybeats & Stevie Wright (I had a chat with Stevie Wright by telephone recently, so you will here our conversation as part of the show).  Really hope you can tune in if you live in the Bega Valley.  93.7 Edge FM!
