Tonight, Wednesday 13th February, 2013, our theme on A Mixed Bag was "Freedom", and we explored our five fundamental freedoms in Australia including freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, and freedom of movement.
Songs we heard this evening were:-

  • I'm Free from the Rolling Stones album "Shine a Light"
  • Free Nelson Mandela
  • I'm Free by the Who (from the Rock Musical "Tommy")
  • Free the People by the Rascals,
  • Free Me by Uriah Heap
  • Freedom by Pete Murray
  • I'm Free by Christine Anu
  • Philadelphia Freedom by Elton John
  • The Waifs Give Me Some
  • and of course.... Devo's Freedom of Choice, and Queen's I Wanna Break Free
  • We finished up with Chimes of Freedom by The Byrds
We had two short interviews tonight, one with Annette Stephens who has written a book called "The Good Little Girl" which is available through Big Sky Publishing and she spoke about her experience of freeing herself from what she describes as a cult. http://www.bigskypublishing.com.au/Books/General-Interest/The-Good-Little-Girl/980/productview.aspx

We also had a chat with Mary Barker from Bega Valley Sanctuary about a photographic art exhibition coming up at the Spiral Gallery in Bega called Faces of Asylum http://spiralgallery.org.au/2012/12/12/the-faces-of-asylum/

The two interviews will be uploaded to the website in the next day or two.
Next week "A Mixed Bag with Chris B" will move to Tuesday nights from 6pm-8pm, so if you live in the Bega Valley really hope you can listen in.
